As we are approaching nine thousand views I am looking to get ten thousand views on this blog by Christmas of this year. So to do this I will be trying to write more oven cleaning and AGA cooker related blog entries to keep you up to date with what's going on in our oven cleaning company. We will be looking to give away a prize for the ten thousandth view!

We do get complaints but they are rare but we've had a couple this week. It is our normal practise to go back and carry out a re clean.
The first one was an easy one to deal with. We had someone who left a message asking us to ring her back and when I rang her she said sternly: "I've got a complaint. The complaint is that I can't have Nigel in my kitchen all of the time! He did some a fantastic job and I want him here all the time'. I didn't say but would have liked to "Thanks for this but he works for us and needs to make a living". I did say: "Oh, thanks very much that is very much appreciated". As we have a weekly meeting with team I pass on all the good messages to the guys.

Well I thought I give you some ideas if you are looking to start an oven cleaning business. Here they are:
1. You will need some sort of van to get to the work. I would say that it would be best to get the newest one that you can afford and also the one with the most doors. More side doors especially help considerably in the day to day running of your business. I like Berlingos and Daihatsu Extols - we use both of these.
2. You need some way to heat up a solution in the van, the reason for this is that the grease will come away from the parts of the oven when they are put into a hot solution that has some chemical in it. Most people go for a cal-or gas type burner and a stainless steel tray of some sort. There is a common metal design 'oven cleaning tank' which has a lid and somewhere for the calor gas bottle to go. We don't use this method, we use something that is a lot safer and easier to use and allows us to do more jobs per day. To get one of ones we use you'd have to go on my course before I'd get you one. The normal price for a calor burner set and oven cleaning tank is about £400 and for the one we use about £1150.

I had a great weekend it was nice to get some time off. Up until recently I seem to have been out cleaning lots and lots of dirty ovens and lots and lots of AGA cookers. So it was great to rest my weary limbs. :-)
Today the guys were out cleaning but I was in the office, I had to sort out some problems with one of the computers.
We are expecting this month to be busy as it normally is. Already we are booked up for most of this week and into next week.

I remember strolling in at about 9.50 for my first day of work experience I was so nervous, I had thoughts like what will the people be like, will they just have me make teas and coffees but I couldn't be more wrong.. during my week at work experience I have found it to be a great experience in which I have really enjoyed, although having to get up early and a lot of writing, Jayne and Catherine never failed too make me as comfy as possible and even made me laugh and ENJOY BEING AT WORK! which to us kids is known as the impossible.

The Telegraph newspaper have written an article a few days ago on the success of Homepride and its oven cleaning product Oven Pride. So the TV commercial really does work even though it got so many complaints but who cares as they are currently selling 200,000 units a month.

We first became aware of Action COACH Business Coaching five years ago and about three years ago we went to a local seminar where we decided to go to one of their 90 Day training Days. This was fine except that we ended up being the only people there. This went well and we started to make small changes in our business. Unfortunately after the session we only had a couple of emails from the coach and then nothing. We later found out that he had gone out of business.
Two years ago we got an invitation to see Brad Sugars in Birmingham and whilst there we bought a package of Brad Sugars videos and the board game 'Leverage' and the whole set of his books. We also asked if could be put in touch with a business coach. We booked in for a seminar in Las Vegas which we attended in October 2007. We really loved it in Las Vegas and thought the seminar was fabulous. If you go there yourself we stayed in two hotels the Golden Nugget for a couple of days before the seminar and then the Venetian where the seminar was held. We preferred the Golden Nugget as it was a great hotel at a great price whereas we didn't like the rooms too much in the Venetian as they had got some small things wrong in the rooms.
By the time we went to Las Vegas we had already started with a weekly business coaching session from a Action COACH. We did this for 9 months and then we decided to stop as we felt that the value we were getting didn't equate to the amount we were spending for the coaching. It was our original plan to recommence after a period where we could catch up on and implement the small changes the coach had been suggesting to us as by then we had a backlog. However our coach went out of business a couple of months after that so we didn't start again. We have kept in contact with a another local ActionCoach and we are still waiting for the time to start business coaching again. We don't feel that now is the right time. We also want to make sure that if we get a coach again that we find someone who is a 'good fit' for us and our business.
During the time we had the coaching we made some significant changes to our business and we are benefiting from them now - and we are still implementing small changes all the time.
